West Ham United are reportedly on the verge of signing Mesaque Dju from Portuguese side Benfica.

It’s Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla who writes it today, claiming that the deal is already done and the player is signing for the Hammers on Monday.

The report says that the transfer has been handled by Stella Sport Consulting Group, the company owned by English agent Jonathan Barnett.

Mesaque Dju is a 19-year-old winger who still hasn’t made his official debut for the Eagles. He normally switches between Benfica’s B team and the U19 squad.

Despite being born in Guinea-Bissau, the player also has Portuguese citizenship and has played for Portugal at the U16, U17, U18, U18 and U19 levels.

This is not a transfer we’ve seen first in the Portuguese press, so West Ham have surely worked quietly on this one. We expect the Lisbon media to soon reveal how much the Hammers are paying for the teenager.
