Ever since Fabio Paratici arrived at Tottenham Hotspur, the club have been repeatedly linked with Nicolo Zaniolo.
Despite it always feeling unlikely that the player would choose to leave Italian football, the links have continued and it’s presumably felt Spurs would be Italian enough for him, given the presence of Antonio Conte and Paratici.
There’s a few snippets in the Italian media about the potential move, with Juventus also thought to be in the picture for the AS Roma player.
Paolo Bargiggia reports Tottenham are taking a look at the situation, at the same time as Juventus are ‘loosening their grip’. The Italian journalist also states that Paratici spoke to the player’s agent last week by telephone.
There’s also some claims from Alessio Lento, he says Juventus need to sell, and even then could only sign Zaniolo on loan with a redemption obligation. Tottenham also need to ‘thin out’ their squad before any move. Should the player stay where he is, then Roma will start renewal talks from September.
Lento has written an article for Calciomercato.it, in which he says Roma value their player at €50m. The Tottenham offer of €29m plus Joe Rodon gets a mention, and it’s clear this wouldn’t be enough for Roma.
As it stands, Spurs and Juve need to wait before they can move forward more seriously, but it would appear this is an idea Paratici can’t let go of.
