Maximilian Wöber has made only one appearance for Leeds United this season and that came in his side’s EFL Cup defeat to Middlesbrough in August.

The centre-back played the full 90 minutes in Austria’s 1-1 draw against Slovenia earlier this month. Daniel Farke had left him out of the squad for the last two league games.

On September 10th, we covered claims from Austria which stated the Leeds United player was ‘suffering from knee problems’.

Journalist Peter Linden now provides the latest on the 26-year-old and it’s not positive for the Whites and his national team.

On Monday, Austria manager Ralf Rangnick will announce the squad to face Kazakhstan and Norway in the UEFA Nations League in October.

Linden says that at this moment in time, Wöber and RC Lens’ Kevin Danso are set to miss out on the upcoming international break.

Wöber was on the bench in Austria’s 2-1 defeat to Norway earlier this month. According to Linden, he didn’t feature in this tie due to a ‘meniscus injury’, which also forced him to miss the last two games for Leeds United.

The journalist further adds ‘an operation is under discussion’.
