Marca are confident that James Rodriguez should soon be an Everton player.
There’s been repeat claims from the Colombian media, and much excitement at the potential transfer, but Saturday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo made clear there’s no deal agreed yet between Everton and Real Madrid.
Marca’s Saturday edition suggests that’s very close, and that James will be moving to Goodison Park for around €25m. They explain that’s a huge loss for Madrid after they signed him for €80m in 2014.
James is part of ‘Operation Exit’, with Real Madrid looking to get some players out of the door quickly.
The transfer makes sense for Marca, because the South American can reunite with Carlo Ancelotti, with them saying the manager must be James’ ‘favourite coach of his whole life’.
Ancelotti was key for the player at Real Madrid, and then took him to Bayern Munich on loan.
At Napoli last summer he made an attempt for the signing, which ultimately failed, and now he’s trying again with Everton.
