Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have FC Nantes’ Bastien Meupiyou on their radar.
The 17-year-old is a product of the French club’s youth system and was promoted to their first team earlier in the season. He’s Nantes’ ‘great hope’ and has drawn the attention of Tottenham, Manchester City and RC Lens.
That’s according to RMC Sport, who state Lens have made an offer to sign the centre-back in the winter market.
Despite this and interest from Tottenham and Manchester City, the defender won’t leave on deadline day.
He was part of the France squad that lost to Germany in the U17 World Cup final in December. Meupiyou starred in the tournament, like he did at the U17 European championship last summer.
The youngster underwent surgery in December and RMC Sport say he won’t be back until mid-February. This information is provided by journalist Fabrice Hawkins, who took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share an update.
He claims both Tottenham and Manchester City are ‘monitoring’ the youngster, who’ll turn 18 years of age in March. Hawkins adds Meupiyou will be the ‘one to watch’ next summer.
In short, Meupiyou won’t leave Nantes today but a transfer in the summer appears to be building.
