It’s now been a couple of years since Wolverhampton Wanderers started being linked to Portuguese midfielder João Palhinha, and it looks like this will once again be a strong rumour in the next summer transfer window.
Newspaper Jornal de Notícias features this week a story on the 26-year-old’s future, given the interest from Premier League sides in his signing.
When speaking of Wolves’ interest, the outlet points out the Molineux side would like to ‘add another Portuguese for the options of Bruno Lage’, especially with the ‘likely departure’ of João Moutinho at the end of the season.
Jornal de Notícias claims that Palhinha, who’s protected by a release clause worth €60m, should be negotiated by Sporting for at least €30m next summer.
It’s claimed that in case the right bid arrives, Sporting should indeed sell Palhinha at the end of the season, but the problem for Wolverhampton is that there will be a decent amount of competition for the player.
The report points out that the likes of Manchester United and Newcastle United are also interested in the midfielder, so Wolves better have convincing arguments to get a deal done.
