Manchester United’s interest in Sporting midfielder João Palhinha is a subject which emerged once again in the past few days, with reports from both the English and the Portuguese press claiming the Red Devils are keen on signing him next summer.
Reports from the British media claimed the Red Devils are preparing an offer worth €20m for the player, but that’s now being said to be insufficient.
Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Notícias comes up to say those figures are ‘well below’ the price demanded by Sporting, who have already made it known they will not let Palhinha move for ‘less than €30m’.
The price tag decided by the Lions is half of his release clause, which stands at €60m.
Jornal de Notícias points out Manchester United are not alone in the race for the 26-year-old, as more English clubs are interested in taking him to the Premier League next summer.
It’s said Palhinha is indeed expected to leave Sporting at the end of the season, at least in case someone shows up with a convincing offer for his transfer.
