With a contract expiring at the end of the season, Andreas Christensen’s future is likely to be away from Chelsea.
The Blues and the defender have not found an agreement over a new deal, allowing other clubs to make an attempt to sign him on a free transfer in the summer.
Barcelona are credited with interest in the 25-year-old. On Tuesday, Sport explained he has ‘practically agreed’ a deal with the La Liga side. Later that day, Spanish journalist Gerard Romero stated there is a ’99% total agreement’ between the two parties.
Another journalist, Helena Condis Edo, now provides a fresh update on the efforts made by Barca to seal the deal for the Denmark international.
Helena Condis Edo told El Partidazo de COPE the Catalan club’s director of football, Mateu Alemany, has flown to London to ‘quickly close the signing’ of Thomas Tuchel’s man.
💥 Informa @HelenaCondis

The journalist reiterates Christensen has ‘no intention’ to renew his contract with the Champions League winners and will leave Chelsea as a free agent after this season.
Barcelona, therefore, view Christensen as a ‘market opportunity’ and the Spanish club are ‘very optimistic’ about bringing the Dane to the Camp Nou in the next window.
