On Wednesday Italian newspaper Tuttosport launched the idea of Tottenham Hotspur being interested in buying Andrea Ranocchia from Inter Milan.

Their inspiration came from Jan Vertonghen suffering an injury, and whilst it was initially thought the defender would be out for a couple of months, Mauricio Pochettino has since revealed he hopes to have Vertonghen back sooner than that.

The Ranocchia idea seemed to be nonsense from the start. Signing the 28 year old just doesn’t seem to fit with Tottenham’s philosophy or that of the club’s manager Pochettino, so the reports from Italy seemed more in hope than expectation as Inter Milan would dearly like someone to part with a chunk of money for the player.

Tuttosport haven’t given up and in their Friday edition there’s an article which seems to accidentally let slip what is going on.

Screen Shot 2017-01-20 at 07.43.45In a sub-headline it’s stated Ranocchia’s agent is travelling to London to scrutinise a Tottenham offer, but in the actual article it says the agent is travelling to ‘seek’ offers.

Ranocchia has been linked with half the Premier League over the past year. Tottenham don’t need a Vertonghen replacement and if they did it almost certainly wouldn’t be Ranocchia.

Inter want to raise money for imaginary attempts to sign players like James Rodriguez, and turfing Ranocchia out is again on the agenda, and again needing a sales effort.
