Yesterday Lazio youngster Keita Balde Diao returned to training following his recent fall out with the club’s leaders and coaching staff. However, even though these issues have been ironed out there’s still a worry things could flare up again, which could result in the player exiting the club in January.
TMW have reported Lazio are currently working on a new deal for Keita, which would secure the player’s services for the next five years. The 22-year-old will receive a significant increase in his salary, but this new deal will include a buyout clause of €25m.
With the recent interest in Keita from the likes of West Bromwich Albion, the Serie A side are bracing themselves for clubs coming back in for the attacker in the next window, and in particular from England. Lazio seem resigned to losing Keita in the near future, but stand to make a huge profit if they implement this termination clause.
During the last window West Brom tabled an offer of €18m to sign Keita just before the transfer deadline. The Premier League side were looking to take advantage of the player’s situation at Lazio, and they hoped to land him with a last minute deal.
However, Lazio were looking for offers in the region of €30m, and subsequently West Brom didn’t come back in with an improved offer.
