Sevilla star Jules Koundé has rejected an approach from Tottenham, making it clear he does not want to join them this summer.
That’s according to MARCA, who say the player and his entourage are prioritising a Champions League club for the Frenchman.
Tottenham have been linked with a move for Koundé for several weeks, with it claimed new manager Nuno Espirito Santo had made him a prime target.
Reports last night indicated Tottenham had reached a cash plus Davinson Sanchez deal with Sevilla to make a move happen, but it all depended on whether Koundé would accept the transfer.
It seems he won’t, with MARCA reporting today that the option of moving to Spurs ‘has been rejected’ by the player himself.
They explain that Tottenham made an enquiry to Sevilla about signing the defender but the Andalusian response, after talking to the player, was that he ‘does not want to go to Tottenham’.
That is because he is currently playing in the Champions League, and the move would mean ‘no option of sporting growth’.
Thus the ‘operation is cancelled’, and the door has been closed for Spurs, Espirito Santo and Sevilla, who have had to tick off a name on the list of possible buyers for their prized asset.
