Nottingham Forest’s €30m demands scuppered January transfer – Suggestion club could be back later

Earlier this week, when the Italian media detailed Leander Dendoncker’s arrival at Napoli, they said the operation for Nottingham Forest midfielder failed because of the Reds’ ‘hesitations’ about a deal.

The Tricky Trees used the player 20 times this season, and were clearly not sure about losing him at such a stage of the year despite Nuno Espirito Santo’s reluctance to use him.

Now as Belgian outlet DH shares a story on those operations, they also have something to say on Nottingham Forest’s stance on Mangala.

The outlet points out that Napoli had initially been interested in the 25-year-old, who was keen on the move, but got stopped by the Reds’ demands.

Nottingham Forest wanted the loan to include a €30m buying option, and the Italian club considered that ‘too high’, as they were expecting a maximum of €25m.

It’s said that the ‘urgency’ led Napoli to look for other targets, and that’s when they ended up finding Denconcker.

Still, a future move for Mangala isn’t ruled out, as the ‘idea’ has ‘not been forgotten’. So we’ll see if those negotiations continue in the summer.
