On Monday, there was a report in France claiming that Nottingham Forest were close to signing Fouad Bachirou from Malmö FF in Sweden.
The Comoros international was reportedly on the verge of putting pen to paper to a two-year contract with an option for an extra one, joining Sabri Lamouchi at City Ground.
The 30-year-old has spent the last six years in Sweden following a spell at Morton in Scotland, first with Östersund before his transfer to Malmö in 2018.
Well, fast forward to Tuesday, and it’s revealed that Bachirou ‘was missing’ from training with his club in the morning.
This is according to Fotbollskanalen, who also point out that Expressen claimed the transfer fee between Malmö FF and Nottingham Forest would be around 7m Swedish Krona, which is the equivalent of just over £600k.
That’s a decent deal for the Championship club, who are clearly trying to add a bit more experience to their squad following their frustrating collapse towards the end of the 2019-20 campaign that saw them narrowly miss out on a playoff spot.
