Following Monday’s reports that Chelsea were edging ever closer to signing Thiago Silva on a free transfer, it appears the Blues are on the verge of getting another centre-back.

He would also be on a free, and his name is Malang Sarr, who recently ran down his contract at OGC Nice.

The 21-year-old has been without a club since leaving the Ligue 1 side, taking his time to assess his options over the past couple of months, which he has now done.

According to Téléfoot Chaîne journalist Saber Desfarges, the young defender ‘should sign with Chelsea’.

It’s explained Sarr ‘has found an agreement’ with the Blues for a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

This has been backed up and expanded on by France Football, who corroborate contract information before adding the player will then be loaned out to one of the four major leagues outside of the Premier League.

His next destination, however, has yet to be fully decided upon.

This signing would fall in line with Frank Lampard’s plans to revamp his Chelsea team with more youth, albeit adding a bit of experience with Thiago Silva as well.

Either way, we’ll have to wait and see, but it appears Sarr has finally made his choice, and he’ll be heading to Stamford Bridge.
