Nottingham Forest want to retain Ola Aina beyond this season, according to PUNCH Sports Extra from Nigeria.
The 27-year-old joined the Reds on a free transfer in July 2023. He was offered a one-year deal with an option for another year.
Back in May, Nottingham Forest triggered that option and the defender’s current deal lasts until the end of this season.
The Nigeria international has made four league starts this season and Nuno Espírito Santo has used him on both left and right side of the defence.
Aina’s ‘impressive performances’ this season have certainly pleased the Premier League side. It’s claimed they are ‘set to offer’ him a new deal. The report makes it clear this is their own information but provides no further updates on the details of their offer.
PUNCH Sports Extra add it’s a ‘priority’ for Nottingham Forest to secure the player’s long-term future. This isn’t surprising because without the renewal, the fullback can leave the Reds as a free agent next summer.
