Nottingham Forest may need an ‘enormous’ bid if they are to sign Santiago Giménez from Feyenoord this summer.
That’s according to journalist Martijn Krabbendam, via Feyenoord Pings, who covers the situation today and insists Nottingham Forest will need to put their money where their mouth is to get him.
Reports over the last week have indicated that Nottingham Forest are perhaps planning a bold move for Giménez this summer.
Their interest was first reported in the Netherlands before then being confirmed in Mexico, where several reports have made it clear that contact has been made and a bid could be coming sooner rather than later.
A move to Nottingham Forest would certainly be a surprise given Giménez’s impressive performances over the last couple of years and the fact he’s been linked with much bigger clubs, particularly those competing in Europe.
Still, it seems Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are building up towards making an ambitious bid either way, perhaps looking to take advantage of the fact that other clubs are yet to actually move and do anything concrete for the striker.
Krabbendam suggests more may be needed, though, with a large cheque at the top of the pile of necessities.
“There is slight interest in Giménez, Nottingham Forest did call,” Feyenoord Pings report him saying on the Dick Voormekkar Podcast.
“I cannot imagine that Giménez would like that, or the amount must be enormous.
“There is talk that he will and can still go. Giménez also has to be sold at some point. And they already have Ueda and Carranza. So, they have all those strikers.”
