Jota Silva had a great season for Vitória de Guimarães, which saw him make his debut for the Portugal national team.

The 24-year-old made 42 appearances for the Liga Portugal side, scoring 15 goals and adding seven assists. He can play in various attacking positions and it had been expected there’d be something of a battle for his signature this summer.

For whatever reason, that hasn’t really been the case and now Nottingham Forest could take advantage of the situation.

According to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, Jota Silva is now close to leaving Vitória de Guimarães and the club has three offers on the table.

Those proposals are from Panathinaikos, Krasnodar and Nottingham Forest and negotiations are said to be ongoing. It’s believed a transfer could even be concluded in the next few days.

He has a €20m exit clause but it’s likely he’ll move for less.

The player will have a big say in where he ends up so that should give Nottingham Forest a boost, given how attractive the Premier League is.

Jota Silva may well be Forest’s alternative to signing Wesley from Corinthians.
