Already signing Brice Samba from Stade Malherbe de Caen in Ligue 2, Nottingham Forest seem to be continuing their hunt in the French leagues.
According to Le10 Sport, the Championship side, who appointed former Rennes manager Sabri Lamouchi to lead the team this season, have taken an interest in Bordeaux’s Alexandre Mendy.
The 25-year-old is apparently on Forest’s radar to bolster their attack, and the idea would be to bring him to City Stadium permanently.
Newly promoted Ligue 1 side Stade Brestois are also after the striker, but would only be able to afford him on loan.
Bordeaux, who didn’t play Mendy once last season before sending him to Guingamp on loan, would rather have him off the books permanently, thus preferring Nottingham Forest’s approach.
The two sides are currently ‘in negotiations’ over a deal, but, as of yet, no further details appear to have filtered through.
Mendy scored five times while on loan at Guingamp over 23 appearances.
