As Nottingham Forest keep up with their mission of strengthening the squad, their eyes have now turned to a Bundesliga player, according to claims from Germany.

Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg today brings some ‘exclusive’ news about the Reds’ interest in Union Berlin midfielder Sheraldo Becker.

It’s said Nottingham Forest ‘inquired’ about the player and want him as an addition to the team to fight against relegation to the Championship.

Plettenberg recalls that Becker has ‘always made it clear’ he’d like to play in the Premier League one day, so that may be a factor to help the Reds in this attempt.

According to the report, there’s now an ‘open race’ for the signing, as talks are still in the ‘early stage’. It’s also pointed out that the player has a ‘long term contract’ at Union Berlin, which expires in 2024.

Becker has eight goals and six assists for the Bundesliga side in 23 appearances this season. He’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at €15m, although we all know the January market usually makes players a lot more expensive, especially speaking of Premier League clubs.
