Back in mid-December, we covered an article about the way Nottingham Forest were set up these days through their French connections.
With José Anigo as their head of recruiting in Europe, the Championship club have turned their attention to Ligue 1 lot more, which was on show during the January transfer window, signing Nuno da Costa from Strasbourg to bolster their attack.
In that same L’Equipe article, it was revealed Anigo had previously travelled to the south of France to watch a Marseille youngster called Jorès Rahou.
The 16-year-old attacking midfielder has impressed for the club’s youth teams, so it’s no surprise to see clubs from around Europe being interested in him, and La Provence confirm this on Thursday.
According to the local newspaper, both Bayer Leverkusen and Nottingham Forest (via José Anigo) are ‘keeping an attentive eye on his situation’ going forward.
Recently turning 17, the youngster could have a wealth of options at his disposal when the time comes to sign his first professional contract, but a person close to him told La Provence: “If there’s a real project for him, his priority is to stay at OM”.
We’ll have to see if Marseille manage to convince him to stay like they did with Boubacar Kamara or if we end up in another Isaac Lihadji situation, with the young winger yet to commit to the Ligue 1 side long-term and will be free to sign for anyone else in June.
