Southampton midfielder Carlos Alcaraz could leave before the end of the January transfer window with Nottingham Forest tempted to make a late move for him.
That’s according to AS, who say the Premier League ‘tempts’ the midfielder but there are no offers for him on the table as yet.
They explain that they have learned Alcaraz is one of those players who ‘could change scene’ in the final stretch of the window, with several teams in Europe all keeping a close eye on him.
No formal offers have been made for the Southampton man as yet, but it is expected that his future will be determined in the next 48 hours.
Sources have confirmed to the newspaper that three teams have shown an interest in Alcaraz this month and Nottingham Forest are one of them.
They would see the midfielder as a ‘luxury reinforcement’ that would help bolster Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad and their chances of staying in the Premier League this season. They have already contacted the player’s camp but have not held talks with Southampton as yet.
Lyon and Marseille in Ligue 1 are also showing interest, but Alcaraz would give priority to the Premier League, thus handing Nottingham Forest a small advantage.
They’re yet to make an official offer to Southampton, who may refuse to sell anyway, but the belief is that a bid could be coming before the window closes.
