Arriving as one of Philippe Montanier’s recruits last summer, Damien Perquis never managed to convince either of his successors that he deserved to be in the team.
Making just 19 appearances for Nottingham Forest last season, all before January, the 33-year-old’s future appears to be far from City Ground, even if he has one year left on his deal with the Championship club.
However, that doesn’t mean the club don’t expect some professionalism from the player’s part, as France Football report on Wednesday, Nottingham Forest have asked Perquis to turn up on July 3rd to train with the U23s.
With the first-team squad starting their training on June 22nd, this is a clear message that Nottingham Forest aren’t exactly counting on the Poland international next season.
In fact, France Football say a source close to the player told them the Championship club told Perquis exactly that: he’s not part of their plans.
The two parties are said to have been trying to work out a way to terminate his contract over the past few weeks, but nothing seems to have happened yet.
We can’t see it taking much longer, unless Nottingham Forest are determined to not pay him any compensation, in which case, it could drag on for a while yet.
