Nottingham Forest have accelerated their interest in Guingamp striker Matthias Phaëton, with ‘contacts already initiated’ about a move.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say the striker’s recent displays have convinced the Championship side to move forwards.
They explain that after a successful Gold Cup with Guadeloupe, in which he scored two goals, the 21-year-old could ‘animate’ the last week of the transfer window.
Both technically gifted and quick with a great passing game, Phaëton also made his mark in Ligue 2 on Monday evening with the winning goal in a win at Auxerre.
That performance saw two clubs, Angers and Nottingham Forest, ‘accelerate their interest’ in him, and according to English sources, contacts have already been initiated to take the striker from the Breton club.
Phaëton has a contract until 2023, so Guingamp are protected in that regard, but it’s still felt an offer could arrive from Nottingham Forest in the next few days.
The website’s belief is that the end of the window could be ‘eventful’ for the striker, with Forest seemingly keen and ready to make a move.
