Back on December 3rd, it was reported that Manchester City were interested in Paris Saint-Germain youngster Tanguy Kouassi.
The 17-year-old has yet to sign his first professional contract with the Ligue 1 champions, and with his current youth one expiring in the summer, there were worries he could, like many others before him, look elsewhere to break into a first-team.
Clubs like Pep Guardiola’s or the Red Bull duo were said to be hovering, and that remains the case despite positive steps being taken by Paris Saint-Germain to convince him to stay.
The youngster made his debut (albeit off the bench) on Friday, coming on for an injured Idrissa Gueye in the 25th minute against Montpellier, and helped his team to a 3-1 win despite going 1-0 down in the first half.
Le Parisien explain that despite this show of faith by Thomas Tuchel, ‘nothing is less certain’ regarding the youngster’s future, which bodes well for the interested clubs, with Manchester City and Red Bull Leipzig the two named in the article.
However, the player appeared to open the door to a potential stay by telling the press: “It’s a good sign [that he played]. It shows the club’s trust and that’s very good for me”.
Whether that continues going forward will be what’s most important, and we, just like Manchester City, will have to wait and see.
