Giovani Lo Celso hasn’t managed to have a prominent role at Tottenham Hotspur this season.

The attacking midfielder missed September’s fixtures due to injury, and since regaining full fitness, he’s made one substitute appearance, taking his overall tally to three this season.

Estadio Deportivo say the 28-year-old’s lack of game time suggests he doesn’t have Ange Postecoglou’s confidence, and that will see other clubs become attentive to his situation at Tottenham.

This could include Real Betis, who had looked at him in the last window. The report states the La Liga side held talks with his father and left the door open for him to join them, as long as he adjusted his salary to fit their wage bill.

Along with Manuel Pellegrini’s side, Barcelona and Villarreal were credited with interest in the Argentina international, but no deal took shape in the summer.

Estadio Deportivo have made it clear ‘there is nothing’ for now about the possibility of the Tottenham player making a switch to Real Betis in January.

That’s because summer signing Isco has impressed under Pellegrini while Nabil Fekir, who has been sidelined due to a serious knee injury, has returned to training. In addition to this, Real Betis president Ángel Haro denied a few weeks ago that his side have made any moves for Lo Celso.

If the South American fails to get more game time at Tottenham in the next few weeks, he could become a ‘market opportunity’ for some teams in January.

To sum it up, the report suggests what could happen to Lo Celso in the next window while making it clear that as things stand, there’s now nothing going on with Real Betis.
