Fernando is supposed to be on the verge of a move to Galatasaray. For weeks it’s been reported in Turkey that a transfer is edging closer, with those claims sounding more concrete over the past 48 hours or so.
The player himself has been speaking to the Portuguese press about his current situation, with them having an interest because of Fernando’s spell with FC Porto. Crucially important for Porto, and much missed since he joined Manchester City, Fernando is well thought of in Portugal.
Speaking to Diario de Noticias, Fernando was candid, and when asked if he’s leaving Manchester City, replied: “My first goal is to go out and play. It’s not worth staying at Manchester City and not being used. I want to play and I already told the club. Let’s wait, the club is waiting for a good proposal.”
After ruling out signing for Benfica or Sporting, Fernando was asked if he could return to Porto: “Look, I’ll never close the doors to FC Porto. It’s the club of my heart, a great club, but you never know. If you ask me if someone from FC Porto contacted me, there was nothing. But you never know…”
Diario de Noticias felt confident enough to ask what Fernando’s price currently is at Manchester City: “Between seven and eight million euros. The club that offered money for my rights was Galatasaray. City want to sell me, but what’s good for the club might not be good for me. It’s no use to only be good for one part, hence the difficulty in solving this subject. By August 31th, anything can happen.”
Fernando doesn’t seem to be in the rush the Turkish media believe he’s in.
