Victor Osimhen missed a chunk of this season after badly fracturing his cheekbone in November. In the 27 matches he’s played for Napoli, he’s scored 16 goals and added five assists.
Last season he put together 10 goals and three assists in 30 matches.
There’s been a lot of hype around the 23-year-old, but Pasquale Lusio, a pundit in Italy, has insisted Osimhen simply isn’t ready for a top club such as Liverpool or Manchester City, despite all the hype.
CalcioNapoli24 quote Lusio as saying: “He’s not ready, he’s not a top player. He still has to work, he has important shots and never gives up, but if we want to talk about Manchester City, Liverpool… he’s not ready. I would advise him to spend another year at Napoli and mature.”
Earlier today we covered comments from agent Andrea D’Amico, who worked on the deal to take Osimhen from Lille to Napoli. He clearly disagrees with Lusio, and feels the attacker is worth way over €100m, which would put him in the bracket of the best players around.
Il Mattino quoted D’Amico as saying: “If a very important offer arrives, he goes away. But this is true for every player who plays in Italy.
“At the moment I have no requests from the Premier League, but it is early, it is a situation that remains evolving. England remains a top tier market. When I speak of an important and indispensable offer for Osimhen, I mean offers of €150m.”
A club making an offer of anywhere like that amount is surely unlikely, and Liverpool and Manchester City may well feel they already have better options in their current squads.
