Arsenal reportedly looked at Jorrel Hato in the summer window, but he wasn’t in favour of leaving Ajax at that tome.
The 18-year-old is still said to be on the radar of the Premier League side. On Friday, we covered claims from Italy that Arsenal’s interest in the defender has grown significantly in recent times.
It was also stated Arsenal are set to provide tough competition to Juventus, who are also chasing Hato.
The Gunners target has given an interview to Ajax Life, where he discussed the ongoing debate about the growing fixture list. His comments are relayed by Soccer News.
Hato, who can operate in the heart of the defence and at left-back, was promoted to the Eredivisie side’s first team in January 2023. He’s been featuring regularly for the Dutch club, making 74 appearances in all competitions, of which 13 are from this season.
The defender’s performances for Ajax helped him make his debut for the Netherlands last November. It has also seen him get linked to other clubs, including Arsenal.
The player desired by Mikel Arteta’s side isn’t complaining of playing more matches. Hato insisted he would prefer playing over training.
“Give me as many matches as possible. We will play two more matches in the Europa League, I am happy with that. I’m not the type who really likes training,” he said.
Hato’s former teammate, Jurriën Timber, left Ajax for Arsenal in 2023. The latter has been used as both a left and right-back this season.
