Earlier on Tuesday, we covered Christian Eriksen’s quotes about his future in the Danish press, and, obviously, he didn’t say anything too extravagant.
Giving us the usual spiel about how he’s happy at Tottenham et cetera, the Denmark international was also praised by his national team manager, Åge Hareide, during a press conference, who even gave him some advice about what to do with his future.
Claiming the Spurs star was as good as the midfielders currently playing for both Real Madrid and Barcelona, the 64-year-old also praised Eriksen’s versatility, stating the attacking midfielder ‘can play anywhere’, and will only get better ‘if he plays with great players’.
As for what the former Ajax starlet should do about his future, perhaps staying put could be the best thing for him to do.
He said, relayed by TF1: “He’s progressed hugely under Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham. They’re a team who play well and needs to inspire us, and because Tottenham are going to get their new stadium, why not stay in London?”
With an ever improving Harry Kane, Dele Alli and a young yet experienced squad surrounding him, it’s not the worst advice in the world.
After all, it depends on what motivates Eriksen; if it’s trophies, then it’s either be patient and hope it comes at Spurs or look elsewhere.
And even then, Daniel Levy won’t exactly be keen to let him leave.
The 26-year-old has scored 11 goals and picked up 10 assists in 38 appearances this season in all competitions.
