There was a time in the transfer window when Ivan Perisic’s transfer from Inter Milan to Manchester United seemed imminent. Several bids were reported, and the player’s will to make the move had never been a secret.
To back up the claims the player wanted the Manchester United transfer so badly, it was easy to see how distant he had been from Inter Milan’s squad in preseason, edging away from others in several ‘group’ pictures.
But the deal never happened, Perisic stayed, and is having a very good start to the season. It’s been three goals in three games for him, and Inter Milan are probably pretty satisfied to have kept him.
So it ended up being proved that the concern with his satisfaction at the club had never been necessary, as previously pointed out by the Italian media, and that’s what Inter Milan director Piero Ausilio told Premium Sport tonight.
Asked how Perisic was convinced, he said (via Calcio Mercato): “Meanwhile, he still had a few years to contract with us. We did not hide Manchester’s (Manchester United’s) offer, but the work with the mister convinced him of Inter’s project.”
Let’s see how all this work with the ‘mister’ will be considered next summer, when other clubs, and perhaps Jose Mourinho again, may come for the player.
