Norwich City are getting close to the signing of São Paulo midfielder Gabriel Sara, according to the latest reports from Brazil.
Journalist Jorge Nicola writes on his Yahoo Blog that the Tricolor expect to close the sale ‘in the coming hours’, as they have a €10.6m bid in their hands.
It’s said São Paulo and Norwich City are currently ‘discussing details’, such as performance bonuses to be added to the fee.
The report adds that the Canaries will pay in several instalments.
When first reporting the Championship side’s interest in the player, the Brazilian media had claimed that it wasn’t known if he’d move now or stay at his club until the end of the South American season and only complete the move in January.
Nicola, however, now points out that Norwich want the player this summer, even though he’s still recovering from an ankle surgery.
West Bromwich Albion had also been reported in Brazil as a contender for the signing, with them and Norwich being put side to side in the battle for Sara this week.
However, it now seems the Canaries are the ones who have won the race.
