Idrissa Gana Gueye remains in Paris, with a potential return to Everton not progressing as the Toffees would hope.
That’s according to RMC Sport, who say while Everton have ‘positioned’ themselves to sign their former midfielder there has not been ‘significant progress’.
The 32-year-old is currently on the list of undesirables at PSG, with the club keen to move him and several other players on.
Selling Gueye this summer makes a lot of sense as he is not a part of Christophe Galtier’s plans and his contract is set to expire in 2023, meaning this is the last summer window in which the French giants can recover some of the money spent on him.
Everton have been linked with his signature for several weeks and a deal appeared to be progressing quickly but that has not proven to be the case.
RMC report that while the Blues are trying to get a deal done, there has been no ‘significant progress’ on that front.
Instead, Gueye remains training in Paris and ‘nothing says’ that the Senegalese international will be gone within two weeks.
In other words, a return to Everton is not currently in the pipeline and there will have to be a major development for that to change before the window closes.
