Just in case you weren’t aware by now, we’ll tell you again: Islam Slimani is having the time of his life at Monaco on loan from Leicester City.

The Algerian striker has contributed to 12 goals in his first seven league games for the Ligue 1 side, and is widely seen as the best performing footballer so far.

Late in September, France Football claimed that Monaco had the option to sign Slimani permanently for €10m, and that’s since been confirmed in England too, although the figure was a tad lower.

Either way, it seems the forward isn’t going to return to King Power Stadium this season, as those in charge of the Ligue 1 side are already planning to trigger the option.

When they do, however, remains to be seen, but there’s absolutely ‘no reason to rush’.

That’s what L’Equipe state on Friday, confirming the information of the €10m purchase clause themselves, adding that Monaco are calm about it all as they have already agreed personal terms with Slimani and have ‘priority’ over others for his signing.

It’s described as a potential ‘the deal of the year’, and as his partnership with Wissam Ben Yedder continues to grow, it might even become more than that as the duo seem to thrive off each other on the field.
