With all the mystery over Cristiano Ronaldo’s future, rumours have started spreading about where the Manchester United star could head to next.
The forward has made it clear he would like to leave Old Trafford if the right offer comes along, wanting to compete for titles and play Champions League football in his final years at the top level rather than fight for the top four in the Premier League and feature in the Europa League.
The Manchester United player didn’t report to Carrington on Monday like the rest of the team, citing family reasons, and was spotted at the Portugal national team’s training ground instead.
In the meantime, Barcelona were linked with a move, but Deportes Cuatro have stepped in and given their frank take on the matter.
They point out that while ‘for a few hours, there was speculation’, the outlet have learned ‘it’s totally ruled out’.
This came as Jorge Mendes met with Barcelona, but ‘neither is the player an option for the club, nor was he raised in the meeting’, which was put in place ‘for other reasons’.
In fact, ‘there is no possibility’ of seeing the Real Madrid legend at Barcelona in the near future.
The Catalan side are set on trying to sign Robert Lewandowski instead of the Manchester United, and ‘there is no other name on the table’.
Instead, Joan Laporta and Mendes discussed other players, including Jules Koundé and Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva, as Xavi Hernández ‘loves the player’.
