Jorge Mendes hasn’t been involved in any Manchester City meeting with Sporting for Bruno Fernandes, a source has told Sport Witness.
The 24-year-old dominated the Portuguese newspapers on Friday, particularly with links to Manchester City.
A Bola claimed Sporting director Hugo Viana travelled on Thursday to Manchester along with Mendes. The Portuguese newspaper have been talking about this meeting all week, and brought the Gestifute agent into the picture.
Record denied the meeting had happened at all, saying any such talks would take place in Lisbon.
A source has now confirmed to Sport Witness that Fernandes isn’t represented by Gestifute and that Mendes hasn’t been involved in anything. This development would bring A Bola’s claims into question.
Gestifute and Sporting will now have better relations since former president Bruno de Carvalho left the club. He’d had disagreements with the agent, and pretty much everyone else Sporting dealt with.
It’s not beyond possibility that Mendes could help in a big transfer, but right now he’s not involved.
Fernandes has scored 24 goals and registered 13 assists across all competitions this season.
