Bayern Munich are ‘close to withdrawing’ from talks with Newcastle United over Kieran Trippier and do not plan to submit a new offer for him at this point.

That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who says Bayern have made it clear that they will not pay any price for the defender and have their limit.

Bayern have pushed for Trippier since the end of last week, approaching Newcastle with a loan offer and then potential permanent deal for the full-back.

They made it clear from the get-go that they would not be willing to pay beyond what they would deem reasonable, though, with a report yesterday outlining that the club’s hierarchy wouldn’t be taking financial risks just to sign a player Thomas Tuchel wants.

Plettenberg continues that today, reporting that Bayern are ‘unwilling to pay any price’ for the England international and have set an upper limit of €15-16m for him and ‘no more’ than that.

That offer was rejected by Newcastle yesterday and Bayern are now close to withdrawing from the bidding process. They determined at a meeting this morning that there would not be a new offer submitted.

Thus the matter is in Newcastle’s hands and unless they change their stance, Trippier will be remaining at St James Park.
