Hull City have received a rejection from Carlos Carvalhal, who is uninterested in replacing Shota Arveladze at the club at a time when Wolverhampton Wanderers are also looking for a new manager.
That’s according to journalist Bruno Andrade, who says that the two parties failed to reach an agreement for him to join the club following talks.
Earlier today we covered a report from Portugal that stated Hull were looking to the Portuguese market for their next manager after deciding to sack Arveladze.
Several names, including Carvalhal, were on their list but it was explained that they weren’t interested in the position for various reasons.
It’s believed the manager was open to joining a Championship side but wanted something a little higher, and more ambitious, than what Hull could offer so would reject an approach.
Andrade now backs that up somewhat by stating the two parties met but there was ‘no agreement in conversations’ that took place and so Carvalhal has sent his refusal.
He will instead remain free on the market.
The journalist adds that this is the second rejection Hull have already received, with Pedro Martins, being the first, also uninterested in the position and turning down an approach.
In fact, Martins may be waiting to receive a call from Wolves, who are also on the hunt for a new manager after sacking Bruno Lage on Sunday.
They’ve also, predictably, been linked to several Portuguese managers and Martins was said to have been approached in a report earlier today.
He’s currently free but it was said that, as of now, the approach from Wolves isn’t binding.
Carlos Carvalhal vai continuar livre no mercado. Não houve acordo nas conversas com o Hull City, que, anteriormente, recebeu uma recusa de outro português: Pedro Martins
