Joachim Andersen to Tottenham is a rumour which has been around for a while, but it’s really built in the past week or so.
There have been multiple reports from Italy about Spurs interest, with a meeting said to have taken place and Mauricio Pochettino’s spies dispatched to get more reports on the Sampdoria player.
Tottenham were sending someone to watch Sampdoria at the weekend and there was a meeting last week to establish a price for a summer transfer.
That price was put at €25m, leaving the decision then down to the player if Spurs make a move.
At the weekend, Gazzetta dello Sport described Tottenham interest as ‘very strong’, and whilst they also mentioned Manchester United it was explained that interest had started via Jose Mourinho.
Now the player has been quizzed about it all.
Andersen came through the youth system at FC Twente, having moved to the Netherlands from FC Copenhagen at the age of 17. His displays for the Eredivisie club caught the attention of Sampdoria.
Dutch outlet Elf Voetbal cover Tottenham and Manchester United interest and then quote the 22 year old as saying: “Everyone is asking me at the moment where I am going. Of course I also get it that big clubs would be interested in me and that is very nice to hear, but at the moment it is not the time to talk about a new club, I am proud to play for Sampdoria and I want to do everything we can to put ourselves in the Europa League.”
And then, well then there’s a good chance of new horizons.
