Douglas Costa to Manchester United is like an annoying rash that simply doesn’t want to go away.

The story gets rehashed over and over again, and there’s one recurring culprit: Tuttosport.

Interestingly enough, none of the other big newspapers in the country have made any attempt to jump in on the action, suggesting either the Turin based paper have an in with the Brazilian’s entourage, or they are just pushing him out of the club because of his rather tepid form.

The forward has struggled to have meaningful impact this season, totalling just 618 minutes of Serie A football, scoring one goals and assisting teammates twice in 17 league appearances.

This has led to stories of a potential exit, and with Manchester United needing a left-footed pacy winger for their right-hand side to mirror Anthony Martial, the Brazilian seems like a good fit, adding experience to boot.

Tuttosport mention him briefly ahead of the Champions League clash with Atlético Madrid, who are also said to be interested in the Brazil international, but the Red Devils are ‘hotter’ on the case than the Spaniards.

Whatever that means.

After all, if Costa does end up looking for a new club in the summer, Manchester United would be silly not to consider him, but with other options, some in far better form than him (we’re looking at you, Nicolas Pépé), he shouldn’t be top of their list.
