After months of speculation and plenty of high-level discussions between Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, it appears the Neymar saga is coming to an end.
The player has made it clear to the Parisian club he wanted to leave and, despite their attempts to get convince him otherwise, it seems a move is on the cards.
Sport cover the situation today under the headline ‘Neymar is living his last hours at PSG’ and say the Brazilian is ‘tremendously excited’ about his potential return.
He’s following the negotiations closely and no longer feels like a PSG player.
He wants the deal closed as soon as possible and is in ‘constant contact’ with his former Barcelona teammates to find out what Barça fans think of him and how they will receive him.
According to Sport, the forward has acknowledged he was wrong to leave Barça two years ago but is convinced he can win back the hearts of the fans.
His confidence that a move will happen comes after there was a final breakthrough in talks between the two clubs in the last few hours.
The newspaper report PSG explained they wanted Ousmane Dembélé as part of the deal and Barcelona were willing to let him go to make it happen.
However, it is the inclusion of Ivan Rakitic as well that has led to the ‘final unlocking’ in the deal.
He would join permanently alongside €125m and Dembélé on loan. That’s enough for PSG, with both clubs now said to be ‘comfortable’ about the deal.
The last hurdle is to get Dembélé to agree to the whole thing, but according to Sport ‘everything indicates that, now, we are very close to the end of the Neymar soap opera’.
