The Argentine media isn’t very happy with Sergio Romero’s lack of playing time at Manchester United this season.
As newspaper Olé covers the Red Devils’s defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League from last night, the outlet makes it all about the goalkeeper.
Romero’s nickname in Argentine is ‘Chiquito’, which means ‘tiny’, and that’s why they use a headline saying ‘Confianza Chiquita’ (tiny confidence).
Olé points out that Manchester United got to three semifinals this season, with David De Gea starting all of them, and the club getting knocked out three times.
They say that even though the Spaniard wasn’t at fault for either of Sevilla’s goals, it was a surprise to see him starting, since he’s not in his best form. Meanwhile, Romero had a great season, playing 17 matches and keeping 12 clean sheets.
Olé writes that Romero has always been the number two choice at Manchester United, and that made him lose his position with the Argentine national team. Now they point out that Dean Henderson is set to be brought back to the club, making things even worse for the 33-year-old.
That’s why the newspaper wonders if Romero will stay at Manchester United for the next season, and ask ‘until when?’ will he endure this situation.
