It doesn’t matter if the story goes cold for a week or so, the Italian media will always find a way to link Newcastle United with Sergej Milinković-Savić.
The Serbia international has long been a named target for the Magpies ahead of the summer, especially as the Magpies have only grown in strength over the past year or so.
Il Messaggero are the ones to bring it back on Tuesday, relayed by Tutto Juve, as they look at the Lazio star’s situation before naming Newcastle as one of the suitors.
Most fans should know this off by heart by now, but for those still in the dark, the midfielder’s contract in Rome expires next year, making this summer the last chance for the Serie A side to cash in without a renewal.
The player has no intention of extending his stay there, simply because he wants to try something new and this summer gives him the best opportunity to do that.
That’s why ‘it will be appropriate to make money’ this summer for his club, and Newcastle are mentioned as one of a number of clubs, that also include West Ham and Arsenal, who continue to study the ‘best move’ to make for the player.
For now, though, Milinković-Savić is only focused on the end of the season, at which point he will decide what to do with his life, and career.
