On Monday, Sport reported Newcastle enter the final bidding for Barcelona’s Raphinha.
The winger arrived at the Camp Nou from Leeds United last summer and has managed 10 goals and 11 assists this season.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Newcastle ‘want’ the 26-year-old and are ‘willing to pay a lot of money’ for him in the summer.
The Brazil international ‘doesn’t rule out’ a return to the Premier League. Despite his statistics, the attacker’s journey with the Blaugrana hasn’t been as perfect as he expected. He’s expressed anger at being substituted on several occasions this season.
Therefore, the La Liga side could be encouraged to carry out the player’s sale if they were to receive a ‘good offer’.
Mateu Alemany will leave the Camp Nou in June and Jordi Cruyff is expected to replace him. Another report from Mundo Deportivo claims Deco is in line to take the Dutchman’s role.
Deco also represents Raphinha and needs to give up his role as an agent if he wants to join the La Liga side. Apart from negotiating his own deal with the Spanish giants, he’ll have to first listen to offers Barca will receive for his client.
Even though Newcastle and others are ‘willing to bid hard’ for the South American, the agent hasn’t received any offers so far.
The agent is expected to arrive in Barcelona today to hold talks with the La Liga side over a new role for himself.
During his time in Barcelona, he’ll have time to meet Raphinha and both will ‘assess all the proposals’ Barca would receive for him.
