Newcastle United ‘want to sign’ Thorgan Hazard from Borussia Dortmund, reports German newspaper Bild on Monday evening.
BVB are not completely against a transfer, given the 29-year-old is no longer as important as he once was for them. They’re prepared to sell him for around €15m this summer, a figure which shouldn’t be much of a problem for the Magpies.
Hazard is currently one of the top earners at the Bundesliga club, making around €7m per year. Bild believe that’s ‘peanuts’ compared to what he could get at Newcastle United, given the club’s recently found wealth.
Eden Hazard’s little brother has a contract with BVB lasting until June 2024, so a decision on his future this summer isn’t a surprise.
Last season, Thorgan Hazard scored three goals in 22 Borussia Dortmund appearances, adding an assist along the way and scoring twice in the cup. He’s quite flexible and can play either on the left or right, occasionally operating through the middle.
An experienced Belgium international, the player will be expecting to secure a place in the country’s squad for the Qatar World Cup later this year.
