On June 16th, we carried a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, who explained that Newcastle United have made a ‘dizzying offer’ of €55m for Lazio star Ciro Immobile.
It was also suggested Steve Bruce’s side are willing to offer him a five-year deal with a salary of €8m per season.
Having struggled during his time at Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla, the 30-year-old joined the Italian capital club in 2016.
The striker has impressed in the last four seasons, managing 20 plus goal contribution in the league in each of those campaigns. This term, he has 27 goals and seven assists in 26 league appearances.
Newcastle will need to invest a lot to convince Lazio chairman Claudio Lotito to part ways with the player, who has a contract until 2023.
FIFA agent Claudio Anellucci, who managed the likes of Edinson Cavani in the past, gave an interview to TuttoMercatoWeb Radio’s program Maracanà and was asked about the possibility of the Tyneside club signing Immobile.
“You have to understand where the money comes from and who puts it. As of today, to get Ciro to move [away] from Lazio and to make Lotito give up [on Immobile], we should talk about very high figures,” he said.
“The alternative is that he stays in Rome, there is no intention of him going away.”
It’s to be noted that Anellucci doesn’t manage the attacker and Immobile is represented by Alessandro Moggi.
