According to a claim in the Swedish media, Anderlecht forward Isaac Kiese Thelin is on the verge of joining Bayer Leverkusen.
The 26 year old has in the past week been linked with a move to Newcastle United, as backed up today by Expressen.
Expressen report Newcastle United, Galatasaray, Dynamo Kiev and Locomotiv Moscow all look set to lose out on Kiese Thelin, with the player’s agent in advanced talks with Bayer Leverkusen.
It’s claimed the Bundesliga side will loan the Swede for the season, with a right of redemption implemented into the agreement with Anderlecht. Expressen say the deal could be sealed as early as today.
This may come as a blow to Newcastle United, who’ve had a transfer window to forgot.
The Magpies’ manager Rafa Benitez last week spoke about his frustrations that targets haven’t been brought in by the club’s leaders, and with just days left of this transfer window they face a race against time to bring in new recruits.
That said, losing out on Thelin may not be the biggest disappointment for Newcastle this summer.
