Newcastle United are clearly looking to bring players in on loan before the end of the winter market.
The club are being linked with several moves and whilst it’s Gelson Martins getting the most attention, and signing the Atletico Madrid player would require the biggest loan fee, it’s perhaps Antonio Barreca who is the likelier deal.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports on his own website that talks between Newcastle and AS Monaco ‘don’t stop’, and everything seems to be continuing without a hiccup at this stage.
The potential transfer ‘proceeds on the idea of a loan’ and the player could leave Monaco quickly, having only signed for the club in the summer window.
Barreca has seven appearances in Ligue so far this season, and one in the Champions League. He hasn’t played since November, but Monaco’s fortunes haven’t exactly improved since the left back was dropped.
Born in Turin, he arrived at Monaco from Torino, and that would explain why the claims are coming from Italy.
