When Giovani Lo Celso left Argentina to sign for PSG in a €10m deal back in 2016, it really seemed like he could be the next big South American thing in European football.

Things haven’t worked out so quickly, but it seems the midfielder is finally impressing during his loan spell at Real Betis this season.

Outlet El Desmarque covers claims from Radio Sevilla today which say Barcelona and Manchester City are both interested in the player.

While it’s claimed that Lionel Messi would like him at Barça, it’s Pep Guardiola who’s an admirer of the 22-year-old’s qualities and could take him to the Premier League.

El Desmarque writes that Betis have an ‘ace’ regarding all this situation. That’s because if they qualify for an European tournament, Lo Celso becomes one of their players. And even if they don’t qualify, they have the option to buy him.

In both cases, they would spend €25m to activate the clause.

So if Barcelona or Manchester City are really planning to go for him in the summer, they may have to negotiate with Betis, not with PSG.
