Newcastle United are today linked to Flamengo youngster Victor Hugo.
According to Brazilian outlet Bolavip, the Magpies are the latest club interested in the signing, following their plan of adding young talents to their squad.
It’s claimed that Newcastle are willing to pay an amount of £10m plus £2m in bonuses for the midfielder, despite him being protected by a €100m release clause.
Victor Hugo is just 18-years-of-age and is managing to take his first steps with Flamengo’s first team. This season, he has three goals and two assists in 19 appearances for the club.
According to the story, Newcastle’s offer is ‘being prepared’ and the Magpies’ idea is to get the signing done ‘before the competition actually arrives’, as other clubs such as Real Madrid and Barcelona are being linked to him as well.
Bolavip isn’t one of the biggest sources in Brazil so it’ll be interesting to see if the country’s largest sources turn up soon to back up the claims regarding Newcastle United.
