Barcelona could move for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana in the summer, as Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes is too expensive.
That’s according to Sport, who say the Everton star is very much on the list at Barcelona as they look for a ‘differential midfielder’ for their squad for next season.
The newspaper explains that Barcelona sporting director Deco is currently carefully evaluating his options for the summer as he looks to reshape the squad.
He can’t make moves at this moment in time as he is waiting to discover what the wriggle room will be in terms of financial fair play and Barcelona’s finance, which are not in good shape to say the least.
Everton’s Amadou Onana is one of the names on that list alongside the likes of Joshua Kimmich, Aleix Garcia and Guimaraes. However, the feeling is that the Newcastle man ‘seems too expensive’ and so Barcelona would be best looking at other options.
Whether that leads them to Goodison Park and Onana, remains to be seen. While Guimaraes is likely to cost significantly more than Onana, the Belgian won’t be sold on the cheap either.
Indeed, he is likely to be Everton’s main source of income in the summer transfer window and with Sport even admitting Garcia is currently liked the most as he has a €20m release clause, any move for Onana could become too expensive too, just like the potential one to get Guimaraes from Newcastle
